Course Description:
This short course is designed to support adult learners aged 35 and above in developing essential digital competencies relevant to contemporary life. It addresses three key areas: the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools, secure engagement with online financial and commercial services, and critical navigation of social media and digital news platforms. The course adopts a practical and applied approach, with an emphasis on contextual understanding and hands-on engagement.
Individuals seeking to acquire a foundational understanding of contemporary artificial intelligence tools, engage in secure online financial and commercial activities, or critically navigate social media and digital news platforms will benefit from the structured and applied nature of this course.
The course is delivered through an accessible and participatory format, with a strong emphasis on practical engagement, contextualised examples, and interactive learning strategies. No prior technical expertise is assumed; participants are only expected to demonstrate a willingness to engage with new digital concepts and tools.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:
Demonstrate a basic understanding of AI tools and apply prompt engineering techniques.
Conduct secure online transactions and manage digital banking activities.
Critically evaluate content on social media and news platforms, recognising bias and misinformation.
Apply practical digital skills to enhance personal and professional life.
