International Symposium "Navigating the Future of Traffic Management"

June 29, 2025 @ 00:00 - July 3, 2025 @ 00:00

The International Symposium ‘Navigating the Future of Traffic Management’will be held in Athens from 29 June to 03 July 2025.  The conference is a leading event bringing together managers, transport experts, professionals and researchers from around the world and serves as a dynamic platform to explore and discuss innovative practices, proven methods, and technologies that can help services to improve the way they actively manage traffic on roads, highways, highways and tolls.

The Symposium is organised by the University Research Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) of the National Technical University of Athens, in collaboration with leading international bodies such as the European Commission (DG MOVE), the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Transportation and Development Institute (T&DI), ASECAP, AustriaTech, the Conference of European Directors of Roads (CEDR), IBTTA, ITS Nationals, ERTICO – ITS Europe and the ERTICO TM2.0 initiative, IRF, HELLASTRON, PIARC (World Road Association) and TRB.

Industry leaders and experts from around the world will lead discussions on challenges, research needs, innovative approaches and opportunities to work with other actors and service providers to improve the way traffic is managed and controlled in the ground transport system.

As part of the Symposium, a technology exhibition will be held, where leading companies in the sector – with a dynamic presence from the US and China – will present solutions both in terms of infrastructure (hardware) and in the critical field of data utilization – the core of any modern traffic management system.

The support of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Digital Governance and the Region of Attica sends a clear message: Greece wants to make strategic moves to address the traffic issue, to join the European cooperation networks, to pave the way for investments and project implementations with a public-private partnership, in a “win-win” framework for all. The aim is not just to upgrade transport, but to improve the daily lives of citizens.

Thematic Axes:

  • Governance and organisational challenges.
  • Operational strategies and network performance.
  • Next generation of traffic management systems and services.
  • Paying for the maintenance of highway networks.
  • Sharing traffic management data within the digital road ecosystem.
