October 31, 2024 @ 09:00 - 12:00

The seventh episode of the Digitial Skills Talks, the online series hosted by the Digital Skills and Jobs Platform, will focus on cybersecurity and the skills needed for the future. Featuring insights from the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) and leading industry experts, this episode offers a deep look into the landscape of cybersecurity.

About the 7th episode

In her speech introducing the EU Cyber Solidarity Act and Cybersecurity Skills Academy, Margrethe Vestager, executive vice president of the European Commission, highlighted the critical importance of cybersecurity, stating, “Cybersecurity is a must-have. It is essential to protect our societies, our citizens, and our economy.” Currently, Europe faces a shortage of nearly 1 million cybersecurity professionals (approximately 883,000), while the global demand for cyber experts is projected to reach 4 million soon.

What is Europe doing to address this pressing issue? How are various initiatives working to bridge the cybersecurity skills gap across the continent? On 31 October 2024, join the discussion on the 7th episode of the Digital Skills Talks Cybersecurity in focus: Insights from ENISA and industry leaders, together with Dimitra Liveri, Team Leader for Awareness Raising and Education at ENISA, and Argyro Chatzoopoulou, Senior Consultant (Policy) and Co-founder of APIROPLUS Solutions Ltd.

In this 30-minute live interview, we will explore European initiatives that raise awareness about digital skills and cybersecurity practices for businesses and individuals, such as European Cybersecurity Month. We’ll also explore how projects like REWIRE are making strides in addressing the skills gap and shortages in the cybersecurity sector. Together with our speakers, we will discuss the impact of EU policies on the cybersecurity landscape, the in-demand digital skills, how to equip workers with essential skills for managing security risks related to emerging technologies, and best practices for staying safe online.
