Funovation competition 2025-2026

The Malta Digital Innovation Authority (MDIA) proudly launches the Funovation Competition, which celebrates schools in Malta and Gozo that actively engage in EU Code Week by organising creative, inclusive, and impactful digital activities.

Objectives
Recognise outstanding school participation in EU Code Week.
Promote creativity, digital skills & computational thinking.
Inspire ICT career interest especially among girls.

Competition Period
πŸ—“ 11th October 2025 – 30th April 2026
πŸ“… Final registration snapshot: 4th May 2026, 10:00 CET
πŸ† Winner announced: by 31st May 2026

Eligibility
Open to all Primary & Secondary schools in Malta and Gozo.

Eligible Activities
Must:
βœ… Be organised by the school and held within the competition period.
βœ… Be registered on codeweek.eu by 4th May 2026 (10:00 CET).
βœ… Be free, include at least 5 participants, and promote digital creativity, ethics, and innovation.
🚫 MDIA-funded/organised activities are not eligible.

Award Criteria
🏫 Winner: School with the highest number of valid registered activities.
βš–οΈ Ties decided on quality & diversity of activities.

Prize
πŸ’Ά €5,000 Award
Used only for educational hardware/software that enhances digital learning.
❌ Not for personal devices, gifts, or entertainment.
πŸͺ§ School must display an MDIA sponsorship plaque.

Reporting & Follow-Up
Updates via funovation.mdia@mdia.gov.mt (include number & titles of activities).
EU CodeWeek Website data prevails over reports.

Termination
MDIA may reclaim the award if funds are misused, or guidelines breached. Schools bear full responsibility and must indemnify MDIA against claims.
