MCAST Playcon Gamejam

The Game Jam at Playcon, organized by MCAST IICT, brought together a group of 18 students from the IICT institute and 2 from the ICA institute. The event aimed to foster collaboration and creativity among students interested in game development. The participants were divided into five teams, and their mission was to create innovative games based on the theme ‘AI takeover.’

The challenge of the Game Jam was heightened by the time constraint, as the teams had to develop their games within a 30-hour timeframe. This intense hackathon provided a platform for the students to showcase their skills, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork under pressure. The limited time frame encouraged quick thinking, efficient collaboration, and the ability to translate ideas into tangible game prototypes.

A notable aspect of the Game Jam was the sponsorship by the eSkills Malta Foundation, which played a crucial role in supporting the event. The eSkills Malta Foundation is likely an organisation dedicated to promoting and enhancing digital skills and eSkills in Malta. By sponsoring the prizes for the Game Jam at Playcon, the foundation contributed to the recognition and encouragement of the students’ efforts.

Sponsorship from the eSkills Malta Foundation implies a commitment to fostering a culture of digital literacy and innovation among the youth. By supporting events like the Game Jam, the foundation plays a pivotal role in nurturing the next generation of talent in the field of information and communication technology (ICT).

In summary, the Game Jam at Playcon, organized by MCAST IICT, provided students with a challenging and exciting opportunity to showcase their game development skills. The support from the eSkills Malta Foundation through prize sponsorship highlights the importance of fostering digital skills and innovation within the educational and technological landscape of Malta.
