The Deputy Minister for State Reform, Gonçalo Saraiva Matias, met, under the Portuguese Presidency of the D9+ (group of the most digitally advanced countries), with the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission Henna Virkkunen, responsible for European technological sovereignty.
“I have affirmed the Government’s ambition to strengthen Portugal’s position among the most digitally advanced countries in Europe,” he said in Brussels.
Portugal is thus positioned as one of the leading countries in the digital transition, actively contributing to European digital infrastructure objectives.
The Deputy Minister for State Reform emphasized Artificial Intelligence as a driver of European competitiveness and stressed that it also represents a strategic opportunity to strengthen Portugal’s competitiveness in the global landscape.
The State Reform also involves putting the State at the service of the citizen, with the best resources and connection between information systems.
Portugal also highlights its early adoption of digital identity solutions and secure authentication systems, contributing concretely to the provision of cross-border digital services in the European area, with a strong impact on the war on bureaucracy with a view to creating a more efficient, transparent and business-friendly regulatory environment.
