The Hellenic Centre for Film, Audiovisual Media and Creation (EKKOMED) participates as a collaborating partner in an innovative vocational training program to enhance sustainability in audiovisual productions. This program is addressed to sustainability managers and aims to specialize and enhance their skills in order to work in the audiovisual industry.
EKKOMED, active in our country’s effort to harmonize with international policies and practices aimed at reducing its carbon footprint, has already developed a series of strategic partnerships, planning actions and tools, as well as information and training programs in the direction of sustainable filming. This includes the initiative to set up the Green SCAP (Green Skills for Cinema and Audiovisual Production) programme, which starts in autumn 2025 and is co-funded by the European Erasmus+ programme.
The aim of the programme is to define best practices and produce useful material for sustainability professionals, who will connect with film professionals and contribute to the transition of the audiovisual industry to new and more sustainable production methods.
The Green SCAP project will be implemented in 2025-2026 in three (3) European countries – Greece, Italy and Spain – led by the Veneto Film Commission (Veneto-Italy) and collaborating partners EKKOMED, the Film Office of Central Macedonia and the Mediterranean Creative Hub of Mallorca (Mayorca-Spain). The project is supervised by the European network Green Film / Trentino Film Commission, while CNA Veneto, Arpa Veneto and the New Institute Centre for Enviromental Humanities (NICHE) collaborate.
Green SCAP combines theory and practice with face-to-face and online workshops and utilizes green certification protocols for cinema from various regions and environmental filming networks in Europe. Twelve (12) sustainability professionals from the partner countries’ regions of origin will be selected. Four (4) of the beneficiary trainees will come from Greece and, as a matter of priority, from Central Macedonia.
Interested professionals can apply to participate in the Green SCAP programme through an open call .
The deadline for submitting applications to the Green SCAP programme is 31 August 2025.
Priority will be given to candidates on the basis of the following criteria:
1. Residents in one of the areas of the partner organizations (Veneto, Central Macedonia, Mallorca)
2. Two years of experience in the field of environmental management or sustainability
3. Possession of a sustainability manager certificate or a green manager certificate
