Digital mismatch is increasing. Digital skills are required in 6 out of 10 recruitments but it is difficult to find 42 % of the sought-after professionals. Digital technologies, new company organizational formulas and new business models: in 2022, almost 70 % of companies invested in at least one of these areas of digital transformation: what is lacking now is human capital with the necessary training. This is what emerges from the report “Digital Competences, 2022” of the Excelsior Information System of Unioncamere and Anpal, produced in collaboration with the Study Centre of the Chambers of Commerce G. Tagliacarne. The study analyses the dynamics of the digital transformation of the industry and services sectors, focusing on the demand for professional profiles with digital skills. The volume also provides a detailed framework on the evolution of European and national policies for digital transformation and the development of digital skills for citizens and workers. According to the analysis, basic digital skills go from a finding difficulty of 41.8 % to 44.2 % when such skills are given a high degree of importance; for mathematical and computer skills, the gap is wider and ranges from 42.7 % to 47.7 %. Among the most sought after figures by companies in 2022 are:
- software analysts and designers
- electronic and Telecommunications Engineers
- energy and mechanical engineers
- programmers
- technicians for the web and applications
The Fund, as part of the objectives of digitisation of the NPR, supports projects aimed at training and digital inclusion to increase people’s digital skills, develop the country’s digital transition and counter the digital divide. On 15 May 2023, two new “Progressive” and“Perspectives” calls were published, respectively dedicated to increasing the digital skills of workers with high risk of substitutability due to automation and technological innovation and unemployed and inactive people, for a total of EUR 30 million. On 6 and 9 June, the Fund organised two webinars to present the new calls for proposals to all operators and organisations interested in submitting project proposals.
