The CEPS Explainer framework is aimed at policymakers and stakeholders to gain a better understanding of the impact and implications of AI at work and for them to identify policy gaps and opportunities to affect the future of work.
This framework emphasises that a good starting point is a task-based perspective on AI, but a more thorough view on AI transforming work is needed. Therefore, the framework highlights how AI is not only an automation and augmentation technology which affects tasks, but also influences jobs, organizational processes, and governance, more effective work coordination, decision-making and hiring.
The report urges policymakers to act more proactively to reskill workers and regulate algorithmic management, and calls for a framework for responsible AI experimentation in the EU. To successfully shape the future of work, the report encourages deeper collaborative innovation in technology and argues social systems should be supported.
