Cegid announced the results of the study ‘The digital transformation of companies in Portugal’, which shows that more than a third of SMEs consider AI and automation as top investment priorities.
The factors that influence the bet on technology are operational efficiency (49%), process systematization (28%) and employee productivity (26%).
Conducted by GfK to more than 650 small and medium-sized national companies from various sectors, the report reveals that 16% of the companies surveyed already use generative AI daily and 19% have the technology integrated with the information of the management software.
On the other hand, automation appears as a top priority for 28% of the companies surveyed. Among these, 69% plan to automate repetitive tasks, which take up about five hours a day per employee.
The study also indicates that 49% of SMEs are ‘more or less in the middle of the process’ of digital transformation, while 19% say they are almost finished or have already completed it. However, 70% admit that they will carry out this process with the specialized support of technology partners.
