The European Commission has launched the Europe Strategy for Quantum, a plan to consolidate the EU’s leadership in the industrial development and application of quantum technologies. The initiative aims to turn Europe into a competitive centre, aligning efforts in strategic areas for European technological autonomy.

The plan sets out five priority areas: Research and Innovation, Quantum Infrastructures, European Quantum Ecosystem, Dual Potential Technologies (Security and Defence) and Quantum Skills. Alongside enhanced research and EuroQCI, the Commission plans to launch six quantum production pilot lines already in 2025, set up a quantum design facility and define a European roadmap of standards by 2026.
