SUMMARY:Sprout x DIGI-ME: 3-Week Digital Entrepreneurship Program
DESCRIPTION:Sprout x DIGI-ME is a collaborative initiative between the University’s Innovation and Ecosystems department and the DIGI-ME project (co-funded by the EU) to stimulate digital-first entrepreneurship among students and young people. Spaces are provided by the Vaasa Startup Factory\, funded by the Vaasa Startup Arcade Project. \nRequirements: a team of minimum two people — one business founder and one technical founder — both willing to commit to three weeks of hands-on work. That’s it\, we’ll help you with the rest. \nThis year’s program is built around real industrial challenges brought to you by our partner companies. Over three weeks you’ll be guided through problem identification\, customer-driven solution development\, and business modeling — culminating in your own pitch. \nThe program runs through three workshops\, one per week\, plus weekly office hours with industry representatives and entrepreneurship coaches: \n\n22 October: Industrial Challenges (Problem Space)\n26 October: Customer-Driven Solution (Solution Space)\n2 November: Business Modeling\n6 November: Final Pitch Day where you will present your business and find your next steps.\n\nAs with previous editions\, this is hands-on\, social\, and tangible: no hybrid or online-only activities. Sign-up is open now — spaces are limited\, so don’t wait.

SUMMARY:European AI Challenge 2026: From Data to Policy
DESCRIPTION:Can AI help Europe better anticipate flood risks? The JRC invites students to explore how artificial intelligence\, data\, and science-for-policy methods can support better preparedness for future floods.  \nAs climate change makes extreme rainfall more frequent and intense across Europe\, public authorities need faster and clearer ways to understand risks\, protect communities\, and make evidence-based decisions. \nThe European AI Challenge 2026: From Data to Policy\, organised by the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission and FARI – AI for the Common Good Institute Brussels\, invites 60 students for a two-day multidisciplinary challenge. Participants will explore how artificial intelligence\, data\, and science-for-policy methods can support better preparedness for future floods. \nTogether\, the two institutions aim to create a hands-on learning experience that connects AI\, flood risk data\, public policy\, and science-for-policy communication. \nThe challenge will take place in Brussels across two locations: at FARI premises on Thursday 29 October and at JRC premises on Friday 30 October 2026. \nApplications are now open to 60 students. The event is free of charge. For further details on the event programme and who can apply\, read the description below. \nLearn more about the challenge on the Joint Research Centrof the European Commission website. \nContact\nQuestions?
