DESCRIPTION:MERIT project is announcing that the second MERIThON will take place in Vilnius from November 19th to 22nd\, 2024. This event invites everyone eager to explore the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) or propose innovative solutions using AI and other technologies to tackle various industry and societal challenges. \nThe MERIThON focuses on clarifying and presenting ideas\, with no strict requirement to implement a prototype. Whether you have extensive knowledge of AI or are just starting out\, all participants are welcome to join! \nInitial Agenda: \n\nNovember 19th: 17:00-21:00 EET (in person in Vilnius) Opening of the MERIThON: Introduction to the event organization and rules\, followed by teambuilding and challenge selection.\nNovember 20th: All day (online) Mentoring sessions and team work on selected challenges. 17:00-21:00 EET (in person): Information session\, team progress monitoring\, and additional mentoring.\nNovember 21st: All day (online) Continued mentoring sessions and team work on selected challenges. 17:00-21:00 EET (in person): Information session\, team progress monitoring\, and additional mentoring.\nNovember 22nd: All day (online) Finalization of ideas and pitch preparation. 17:00-21:00 EET (in person): Pitches and winner ceremony.\n\nRegistration opens on October 14th\, 2024\, and closes on November 11th\, 2024. \n\nParticipants and silent members – https://digitalmerit.eu/merithon/hms/register/ – will have to participate in place\, at VILNIUS TECH\nMentors – https://digitalmerit.eu/merithon/hms/be-a-mentor/ – can mentor in place or online from the 19th to 21st of November\nJury member – https://digitalmerit.eu/merithon/hms/jury/ – will have to participate on the 22nd of November in place\, and vote selecting the winners\nKey speakers and sponsors – contact Simona Ramanauskaitė at simona.ramanauskaite@vilniustech.lt\n\nParticipants will work in teams to tackle selected challenges\, culminating in a pitch at the end of the event. DESCRIPTION:On December 11\, the Media & Learning Association (MLA) is organising a webinar on Games for Good: Media Literacy and Digital Citizenship.  This is part of MLA’s Wednesday Webinars\, a series of monthly online sessions focusing on various topics related to digital and media literacy. The topic of the sessions are chosen based on ongoing projects\, media literacy trends\, and ongoing collaborations with other organisations. \nAs games continue to surge in popularity\, their role as powerful educational tools has never been more evident. Beyond entertainment\, games have become key mediums for teaching media literacy and fostering digital citizenship. \nSession outline & focus\nThis Wednesday Webinar session will: \n\nexplore the transformative potential of games as educational tools\ndelve into how they can be leveraged for social activism and awareness\n\nThis will be supported by real-life examples of impactful games that address critical social issues\, demonstrating how the interactive session of these can foster empathy and understanding in participants. The discussion will also focus on ways to combat cyberbullying and toxic behavior within the gaming community\, highlighting instead the positive outcomes that games can provide in promoting a healthier and more inclusive digital culture. \nSpeakers will be announced soon.
